In Memoriam: Martha Zaplishny Jackson (1926 – 2023)
South Attleboro, Massachusetts – Martha C. (Zaplishny) Jackson, 96, went to her heavenly reward on Saturday, May 6, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Rev. David V. Jackson. The couple would have celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary on May 8, 2023.
Born in Stamford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Missionaries to Bulgaria, the late Dionisey and Olga (Popova) Zaplishny. Martha’s father died when she was eight years old. She had resided in Newport, Rhode Island before moving to South Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1966.
Martha was a longtime member of Crossroads International Church, the former South Attleboro Assembly of God, where her husband had been Pastor for thirty-three years. She was a kindergarten teacher at Dayspring Christian Academy, South Attleboro, for forty-two years until retiring in 2009.
Besides her loving husband, she leaves two daughters, Joy Jackson Marchione and her husband, Nicola, of Walpole, Massachusetts and Susan Faith Mayer and her husband, James, of North Attleboro; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Jackson, Christina Bensley, Carley Jackson, Riley Marchione, Sara Marchione, Rachel Mayer and Christian Mayer; four great-grandchildren, Tristan Bensley, Kai Bensley, David Jackson and Christiana Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jonathan Roy Jackson.
VISITATION will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Crossroads International Church, 1052 Newport Ave., South Attleboro. Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads International Church, 1052 Newport Ave., South Attleboro. Interment will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Missions, C/O Crossroads International Church, 1052 Newport Ave., South Attleboro, MA 02703 would be appreciated.
Cup & Cross Ministries Shares the Love of Christ with Bulgarian Sunflower Seeds in Polk County, TN

Sunflowers are so much fun. They are actually thousands of tiny flowers that bring joy in many ways. It’s neat to watch them follow the sun because of a trait called heliotropism. Eating sunflower seeds can lower rates of cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. They are a good source of many vitamins and minerals that can support your immune system. And did you know that a sunflowers destroy contaminants of its surrounding soil, water and air?
Although sunflowers are Native to North America, Bulgaria is among the top 10 sunflower producing countries. As in various places in Polk County, Bulgaria is famous for their golden fields. And believe it or not, you can find Bulgarian sunflower seeds in any Dollar General labeled with the Clover Valley brand. When we were ministering together with Feeding God’s Lambs Summer Program at First Baptist Benton giving a presentation about the 6 Senses of Bulgaria, the kids even got to taste some. Fun.
With a multisensory trip to Bulgaria, we shared how the Holy Spirit is our Sixth Sense to guide and direct us in life and found in everything we touch, see, hear, smell and even taste. When we all come together, we can do great things, just as with the thousands of tiny flowers that come together to have the appearance of a unified flower. Let us be a purifier of our environments and always be reminded to follow the SON. Being consumed with the sixth sense of the Holy Spirit is good for the soul.
I was called … Celebrating 30 Years of Global Ministry
During the month of September, our ministry is celebrating 30 years in Global Harvest. I was saved in my hometown of Yambol Bulgaria on August 9, 1990 and baptized with the Holy Spirit seven days later. In two weeks time, God called me to preach and I preached my first sermon one Friday night in September at the Church of God in the mountain town of Pravetz, Bulgaria where a small group of Pentecostal believers had kept the faith during the long years of the Communist Regime. At that time, Pravetz was known as a stronghold of Communism where the Communist president who ruled Bulgaria for 36 years was born. Many, including school officials, did not receive our faith and openly tried to suppress its expression. All night prayer meetings were a weekly event, and chain fasting almost never stopped. The Bulgarian Church of God was still underground.
Only 14 were present at the meeting as I preached from Genesis chapter 14. Little I knew that just a few short months later, the youth group of the church would count over 100 strong and growing, and with the Berlin Wall now fallen revival was on the way. That night in Pravetz Bulgaria I just preached a sermon from the Word. That same Word, which God still claims cannot return void. For Revival must go on …
Now 30 years later, the time to tell the story has finally come!
This book should have been published seven years ago in 2013. Its original subtitle was going to read “7 Years in Bulgaria.” Instead, it took seven years to finish it with all documents, research archives and new cases. Now, it is finally here and it finally reads like a story – not just choppy interviews, deposition documented testimonies or court records, but a story of struggle, strength and solitude. A story of life and a story of us.
